Maria Gillan at the Festival of Women Writers

Maria Mazziotti Gillan will be reading her poetry and offering a workshop as part of the Third Annual Festival of Women Writers.

The Festivals runs from September 11-13, 2015 in Hobart, N.Y.

Her reading will be Friday at 2:15 pm. Maria's workshop on Saturday at 1:45 pm, "Finding the Poets Inside You: The Poetry of Memory and Place" is consistent with her poetry philosophy that when "We find the courage to explore our memories, we will find the source for powerful and evocative writing. This workshop is designed to help us find the stories we have to tell and the words to tell them, using our daily lives and our varied experiences to unearth them."

Hobart is known as "The Book Village of the Catskills" and the Festival of Women Writers has become a highly anticipated event. Since its inception, the Festival has created space for established and emerging women writers to share their insights and skills through a variety of writing activities and public readings.

Hobart will again host a diversity of working women writers, and Main Street will be busy with workshops, readings, and other writing activities from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon at its third annual Festival.  Novelists, short-story and young-adult fiction writers, memoirists, poets, and bloggers will join us again this year. All writers and lovers of books and women’s writing are welcome to participate in and enjoy the Festival of Women Writers.

Maria's Official Site is at MariaGillan.com.  Her latest publication is the poetry and art collection, The Girls in the Chartreuse Jackets.
