The Carriage House Poetry Series announced that their summer hiatus will end with an evening of poetry readings by Maria Mazziotti Gillan and Joe Weil will occur on Tuesday, September 20, 2016.

The free poetry performances will begin promptly at 8:00 p.m. in the Patricia Kuran Arts Center on Watson Road, off North Martine Avenue, adjacent to Fanwood Borough Hall (GPS use 75 N. Martine Avenue, Fanwood NJ).

Maria Mazziotti Gillan is the Founder/Executive Director of the Poetry Center at Passaic County Community College in Paterson, and editor of The Paterson Literary Review. She also is the Director of the Creative Writing Program and Professor of Poetry at Binghamton University (SUNY). Maria is a recipient of the 2008 American Book Award for her book, All That Lies Between Us. Her newest collection is What Blooms in Winter.

Joe Weil is an assistant professor at Binghamton University who teaches poetry and fiction at the graduate and undergraduate levels. He is a noted performer of poetry and music and has been featured on PBS' Fooling with Words with Bill Moyers, in the New York Times, and at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, the Detroit Opera House, Poets' House, and at Geraldine R. Dodge poetry festivals. Joe has published four volumes of poems, including The Great Grandmother Light: New and Selected Poems.

The Carriage House Poetry Series is currently in its 18th year at the Kuran Arts Center, an historic Gothic Revival structure that was once a 19th century carriage house, hence the name of the series. The Sept. 20th reading is free and open to the public. An open mic reading with local poets will follow the featured performance.
