The NEH “ Discovering Paterson” Grant at Passaic County Community College sponsored a poetry reading and creative workshop for PCCC students run by the internationally loved poet Maria Mazziotti Gillan.
Maria spent the afternoon sharing the stories of her youth as a child of Italian immigrants, reading moving poems about life of the working class in Paterson, and motivating students to share their own important stories.
Students left the workshop empowered to explore their own voices- ones that need to be heard more now than ever before.
