On July 27, 2021, a virtual reading sponsored by the Poetry Center at PCCC was held. Friends and poets read poems from Laura's posthumous poetry collection, Family Promises (NY Quarterly Books, 2021).
Laura died of pancreatic cancer on April 9. She was a beloved friend of Maria Gillan and the Poetry Center. Laura conducted readings and workshops for the Center. Laura also edited the New Jersey Poetry calendar published by the Center.
The reading was live-streamed and archived on the Poetry Center’s YouTube channel.
Maria Mazziotti Gillan's new poetry collection is When the Stars Were Still Visible (2021). Other recent publications are the poetry and photography collection, Paterson Light and Shadow and the poetry collections What Blooms in Winter and The Girls in the Chartreuse Jackets which pairs her poems with her paintings.
