LaborArts presents powerful images to further an understanding of the past and present lives of working people. Their events and contests expand on this effort. The Clara Lemlich Awards for social activism celebrate the lives of incredible women whose decades of activism have made real and lasting changes in the world.
The 2022 ceremony was held virtually and Maria Mazziotti Gillan was one of the award winners. This video of the ceremony will begin with Maria's portion of the program.
For 2023, the awards program is back to an in-person event at the Museum of the City of New York on
Friday, May 19 at 4pm.
Maria Mazziotti Gillan's newest poetry collection is When the Stars Were Still Visible (2021). Other recent publications are the poetry and photography collection, Paterson Light and Shadow, and the poetry collections What Blooms in Winter and The Girls in the Chartreuse Jackets, a pairing of her poems with her paintings.
