Space Sisters by Linda Hillringhouse |
This Friday, March 22, there will be a free beginner's painting workshop from 11:45 am - 1:15 pm at the Hamilton Club in Paterson, NJ. The workshop will be led by painter and poet Linda Hillringhouse. The workshop is sponsored by Cultural Affairs at Passaic County Community College.
Linda Hillringhouse’s own colorful, decorative paintings on paper and batik are imaginative, witty, and sophisticated. Her exotic figures, often dressed in elaborate costumes, could be characters in a narrative or play.
“My work contains a theatrical/psychological motif: the feeling that something happened, is trying to happen, or will happen – externally, or internally – or in a dream. The figures display themselves in imaginary landscapes or interiors. They appear to be self-conscious actors who know something the artist doesn’t.”
