Maria Gillan on State of the Arts Program


This week on State of the Arts, see and hear poet Maria Mazziotti Gillan, whose heartfelt work is deeply rooted in her childhood memories of Paterson.

Also on this episode: Two River Theater in Red Bank gives Pamela's First Musical its world premiere. It was Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Wendy Wasserstein s last work, based on her children's book of the same name. Newark artist Kevin Sampson creates the USS Kye Kye Kule with objects found on site at the historic Mystic Seaport. Musician Nelson Baez as he keeps the infectious Puerto Rican tradition of Bomba alive in New Jersey.







Maria Mazziotti Gillan's most recent books are the poetry and photography collection, Paterson Light and Shadow  and the poetry collection, What Blooms in Winter .
