Rashad Wright |
Jazz singer Dwight West passed away earlier this year, but his son, Rashad Wright, has been teaching Paterson, New Jersey school children what poetry can be. He teaches in the Theater and Poetry Project (TAPP) which is part of The Poetry Center at PCCC.
Rashad lives in Paterson at Prototype 237, the live/work space for artists in Paterson. The 28-year-old African-American poet finds inspiration and community in this artist compound in an old industrial building on the Passaic River.
As part of WBGO’s Jon Kalish special series with features on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion made possible in part by a grant from The Fund for New Jersey, you can listen to the radio story at wbgo.org
